Banque de Luxembourg is sponsoring the 13th European Carpenters’ Championship, which will take place from 18 to 21 October 2018.

Skills, tactics and precision: carpenters take centre stage

Every two years, carpenters from all over Europe gather at the European Championship to identify the continent’s winning nation and best individual carpenter.
During the three-day competition, which is organised by FECB, the Fédération européenne de la construction en bois (European federation of construction in wood), young apprentice carpenters from at least eight European countries will build extremely technical constructions and demonstrate their professional mastery of wood. A jury of experts will select the individual champion and the winning nation. Participants in the championship will be keen to show their expertise to the public as part of the Home & Living Expo trade fair in Luxembourg. The European Championships provide an insight into the technical levels achieved in the field of creative construction in wood, while also promoting carpentry as a profession.

The artisan sector: a pillar of the Luxembourg economy

Playing a major role in Luxembourg society, the artisan sector also holds a central position in the country’s economy. Consisting of 6,000 SMEs, representing 21% of the Grand Duchy’s businesses, it provides stable, stimulating employment for 80,000 people, making it the largest employer in Luxembourg. We support family businesses in growing, managing and protecting their family and business legacy. In doing this, we have developed special expertise in preparing the different phases of handover and in educating the Next Gen. We have always supported entrepreneurship and crafts in Luxembourg, especially family businesses, whose resilience, long-term performance and inherent values make them an inspiring example. Our support for the European Carpenters’ Championship in Luxembourg is part of this ongoing approach.
