Banque de Luxembourg and Maison Moderne have published a book telling the stories of ten family businesses in Luxembourg.

The stories show how the country’s history has influenced the development of the businesses, as well as illustrating how these companies, and many others, have left their mark on the life and evolution of the Grand Duchy. Each one of these families has contributed its own page to the story of Luxembourg. Click below to discover their video profiles (in French).

The Ehlinger family, Groupe Schuler

(video in French)

“The story of a family is often the story of the rise of an economy, the growth and transformation of a country. This is certainly true of the Ehlingers, a family whose spirit of entrepreneurship and intuition would guide its members through the great adventure of the 20th century. This was the century when, from working the land, a family embarked on a new path, selling first coal and then domestic fuel before forging a new business in goods transportation. A century when dreams and ambitions were interrupted by wars, after which everything had to be rebuilt. A century that would be revolutionised by oil, which would completely redefine the economy again. A century in which a family with land in its DNA would start a new venture in real estate.”
