Banque de Luxembourg and the publishing house Maison Moderne have produced a book tracing the history of ten entrepreneurial families in Luxembourg.
Reading these stories shows how much the history of the country has influenced the course of these businesses, and how they, in their turn and along with many others, have shaped the life and evolution of the Grand Duchy. We have produced a short video (in French) about each of these families which have made their own unique contribution to a page of Luxembourg history.
The Giorgetti family
(video in French)
“It’s the Summer holidays and Paul and his brother Marc are visiting the Giorgetti building site: flanked by cranes, a smell of plaster hangs in the air, and there is a constant hum of lorries relentlessly delivering heavy loads of construction materials. It’s a fascinating spectacle for the two boys. Before long, dozens of houses will emerge from this excavated ground. And as every homebuilder knows: to construct excellent buildings, you need solid foundations. There's an obvious parallel with family and education but it’s nonetheless valid and embodied by the two brothers. Having come from Italy at the end of the 19th century, this entrepreneurial construction family has gone on to shape a significant part of the Luxembourg architectural landscape.”
